a quiet moment & a deep breath
for today’s lesson, we were inspired by one of our most-loved new products, take a deep breath. even the name is a good reminder as we go about our day, but, we’d like to take it a step further. let’s discuss adding meditation to our daily (inner) beauty regimen.
texts, to-do lists, honking horns and back seat arguments. modern life comes with a lot of noise. what’s more, we try to multitask to the point of madness for the sake of productivity and as a result, never feel like we get anything “done.” over time, this noise and constant “doing” can cause a repetitive chatter in our minds that prevents us from ever really. just. being. even for a moment.
you may relax when its finally time to collapse in bed at night, but, what you need is a break, a quiet moment and a deep breath. why? because when you take the time to connect with your quiet self, you connect with the real you – your spirit.
each day, commit to dedicating 5-20 minutes for yourself (hide in your closet if you have to). then, simply follow these easy steps:
- sit down, close your eyes and get comfortable.
- take one big, slow breath in and out. scrunch up your body as tight as you can. now, let it all go.
- silently repeat to yourself, easily and freely, a word or words that brings you peace. for example, we like – “free. calm. strong.” do this over and over.
- when you’re done, open your eyes, and smile your biggest smile. you did it!
it’s important to mention that meditation isn’t a one-size-fits-all exercise. find what works best for you and go with it. your mind will wander and thoughts will come into your head, and that is completely normal. don’t have even 5 minutes? take thirty seconds. the benefit comes from making the commitment to meditate on a regular basis.
