life is a classroom

life is a classroom

today, we’re introducing a new blog series called life is a classroom, where we will share lessons for being your most beautiful you. inspired by our amazing grace shampoo, bath & shower gel philosophy, our lessons will cover many subjects, including grace, gratitude, well-being, family, and the list goes on.

for our first subject, we felt it is only fitting to take a closer look at grace.

lesson_plantake a moment to reflect. have you encountered any tests of grace lately? disciplining your kids for something you wish they hadn’t done, communicating effectively with your spouse, or perhaps layoffs were announced at work, and you were one of them. think of a scenario where your character was challenged. what was your reaction like? in that particular moment, would you have given yourself an A in the subject of grace?

often times, a test of grace triggers anger, frustration, defeat, embarrassment, etc. because of these emotions, a typical reaction happens instantaneously. we jump to a conclusion and spew our frustration, adding fuel to the fire and for most of us, regretting it almost immediately. it’s okay, we’re human, and without failing, we couldn’t learn to succeed. building character takes time.

homeworknext time you face one of these tests, make an effort to practice grace, using these three tips:

  1. take a breath, or two, or many.
  2. listen to and observe the situation. this may take minutes, days or even weeks.
  3. react with grace. this may also take minutes, days or even weeks.

philosophy: life is a classroom. we are both student and teacher. each day is a test. and each day we receive a passing or failing grade in one particular subject: grace. grace is compassion, gratitude, surrender, faith, forgiveness, good manners, reverence, and the list goes on. it’s something money can’t buy and credentials rarely produce. being the smartest, the prettiest, the most talented, the richest, or even the poorest, can’t help. being a humble person can and being a helpful person can guide you through your days with grace and gratitude.

  1. Our family is going through some test in time health issues with my husband. This classroom teaching comes at the very moment I needed a lift. I walk with hope and grace each day to support him snd he has a shoulder to lean on. Been married 40 years. He is my rock!

Even school teachers like this! Hopefully, I go through each day with some measure of grace and teach my students to offer each other grace.
