we still can’t believe it’s already august. that means fall is right around the corner! we’re giving you a sneak peek of our fall collection with granny’s apple pie, a scent inspired by deliciously sweet apple pie made with ripe granny smith apples.
even though we’re in the heart of summer, there’s something about pie that makes us feel warm and cozy, like an overcast fall day when there’s nothing to do but cuddle up with a warm slice of yummy. enjoy!
9 in. double pie crust pastry, 1/2 c. butter, 3 tbsp. flour, 1/4 c. water, 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/4 tsp. cinnamon, 8 apples – peeled, cored and sliced. melt butter in saucepan. stir in flour. add water and sugars; bring to boil. reduce temperature and simmer.
place bottom crust in pie pan.
fill with apples, and cover with crust lattice. pour sugar liquid and cinnamon over crust.
bake 15 min. at 425°f. reduce to 350°f for 40 min.
or bake for 30 min. total if you prefer a doughy crust
serve with a dollop of fresh cream
