at philosophy, we believe there is always a reason to celebrate. so, in the spirit of cinco de mayo this weekend, we went on a festive taco tour around the valley. authentic mexican food is easy to come by in phoenix, and these restaurants were nothing short of spicy, cheesy deliciousness.
you had me at “salsa bar.” with walls scattered with local art and a menu that made our mouths water, la condesa was a great first choice. as we waited for our order, we munched on homemade tortilla chips and a variety of fresh salsa. the favorite: smoky chipotle.
the next place we visited, el charro, is an authentic mexican restaurant owned and operated by the family of one of our own for over 80 years. known for their green chili and cheese crisp, the lunch special definitely hit the spot. the favorite: non-chunky, just-right salsa.
we couldn’t pass up america’s taco shop just down the street from headquarters. as regulars, we already knew what to order: carne asada taco and a mexican coke. doubling up on the salsa made it even better. we will be back.
celebrate cinco de mayo with your own taco tour. print our taco tour guide or make your own, grab your friends and get your salsa on. cheers!
